HipSnip wins IC Tomorrow Digital Innovation Contest

Accelerator is excited to announce that incubator tenant HipSnip have won the IC Tomorrow Digital Innovation Contest.
HipSnip pitched their personal shopping app to the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) at the prestigious BAFTA headquarters in London last week and successfully secured themselves £10,000 financial investment and the chance to test their product in the UK consumer market backed by the IC Tomorrow and TSB. They will now be working with LondonMet student alumni business and fellow Accelerator tenant Moove Agency to develop the product website.

The IC Tomorrow Digital Innovation Contest was run throughout early 2011 by the TSB and was looking to invest in the development of companies with innovative business models in the film, tv, music, and publishing sectors . They then opened a wild card category into which HipSnip entered with a short pitch-video.

HipSnip were then called to pitch to the board at the BAFTA headquarters in London, where they impressed the judges with their unique personal shopping mobile app that helps the user learn about products and get product experiences from friends & followers. Their first place position not only secured them the financial investment they need but also exclusive access to the board’s valuable range of industry and investment contacts.

HipSnip was founded in 2010 and is based within Accelerator’s incubator. Phil Woodward , Co-founder of HipSnip said of his experience;

Being based at the Accelerator carries the benefit of being in very close proximity to other digital companies and students to collaborate with – we’ve employed our colleagues at Moove Agency for our website!”
