HipSnip is about connecting the real world to the online world. It is a mobile notepad that is Smart, Social and Connected, allowing users to make notes of and follow ‘real-world’ products.

We call these notes Snips, and HipSnip makes them:
· Social – ask my friends about a product, follow a specific product...
· Smart – pull in context aware content to increase personal productivity...
· Connected – a business can link to and send Twitter-style updates about products...

An example of how it could be used: make a list of 3D TVs that you’re looking at in a Curry’s store, then instantly post them to Facebook to ask your friends what they think of them, then link back to online stores once you’ve made up your mind.
HipSnip uses a range of mobile phone technologies to enable a consumer to pull in a note directly about or from an object, including QR codes, SMS, image recognition, barcode look-up, and geo-location.
It’s accessible via a web application and mobile applications. HipSnip also provides businesses with mobile marketing services including SMS keywords and trackable QR codes (a type of mobile phone scannable barcode).
